New Comics Release for 5/18/16

Writing this on a gloomy rainy Monday afternoon. Some cool new stuff coming out this week, lots of good comics on the horizon! Lets get straight to it and jump in with this weeks new releases!

From Dark Horse this week, a new series debuts that is completely done by Gene Ha! Mae #1 is available this week. Mae deals with the titular character coming to terms with the fact that her sister, Abbie, has been a celebrated action hero in a fantasy world since she was young, and now, upon her return, many of the monsters and terrible creatures begin to cross over into our world!

From DC this week, we also get a new series in Future Quest! Issue #1 is written by Jeff Parker, with art by Evan Shaner. Future Quest follows Johnny Quest and Hadji working to save the galaxy as they are caught in an epic struggle between the Space Rangers and a dangerous villain. The Quest crew combines forces with a host of Hanna-Barbera’s greatest action heroes to stop the villain and save the universe!

From IDW this week a new mini-series called Archangel debuts! Written by Sci Fi superstar William Gibson, with art by Butch Guice, the series is centered around the US political leaders’ decision to abandon the radioactive planet they’ve destroyed to harness the power of humanity’s last hope: The Splitter, a colossal machine designed to manufacture a bright new reality!

From Image this week we get the start of a new story arc to Beauty with issue #7. Continuing the tale of the sexually transmitted disease that make people gorgeous, this new story arc revolves around a criminal, Timo, who is affected by the disease and his struggle with mortality!

Finally, from Marvel this week, Civil War II #0 ships, written by Brian Michael Bendis with art by Oliver Coipel. Hot off the heels of the FCBD prelude, Issue #1 introduces all of the players and sets the table for Marvel’s latest summer blockbuster that pits Captain Marvel against Iron Man for the utilization of a new precognitive Inhuman who can predict future crimes!
