New Comics Release for 8/9/17

Whats up with all the rain this week? It has definitely been a nice dip in temps from the crazy upper 90s from the week or two before. Making our way into August for sure and headed towards the fall and lots of cool new stuff coming out in the coming weeks! Lets jump in to the new releases for this week, shall we?

From Dark Horse we get another dose of Big Red comes your way in the form of a one-shot written by Mike Mignola and Chris Roberson with art by Shawn Martinbrough! Hellboy and the BPRD 1955 Secret Nature continues the backstory of HB’s time with the Bureau before we first see him in Seed of Destruction. In this one-shot he traverses the backwoods of Oregon in search of a missing group of teens, and must confront a cryptozoological horror with origins similar to his own!

From DC, this week, a new mini series fires up by superstar writer Tom King and artist Mitch Gerads with Mister Miracle #1 (of 12). Scott Free is the greatest escape artist that ever lived. So great that he escaped Granny Goodness' gruesome orphanage and the dangers of Apokolips to travel across galaxies and set up a new life on Earth with his wife, the former female fury known as Big Barda. Using the stage alter ego of Mister Miracle, he has made a career for himself showing off his acrobatic escape techniques. He even caught the attention of the Justice League, which counted him among its ranks. You might say Scott Free has everything...so why isn't it enough? Mister Miracle has mastered every illusion, achieved every stunt, pulled off every trick - except one. He has never escaped death. Is it even possible? Our hero is going to have to kill himself if he wants to find out.

From Image this week, a new horror series debuts from the mind of Eisner Winning colorist Jordie Bellaire and artist Vanesa Del Rey called Redlands! Set in the sleepy town of Redlands, Florida; the police are failing to maintain control of their old-fashioned town, and a coven of killer witches plan to take everything from them!

From Marvel this week, lots going on with the continuation of Generations and Secret Empire, but a special one-shot hits this week as well in the form of the Star Wars Rogue One Cassian & K2SO Special. This expanded universe tale recounts the first time Cassian and K2 met! They weren’t on the same side of the Galactic Civil War and it most certainly doesn’t go well! Written by Duane Swierczynski with art by Fernando Blanco!
