New Comics Release for 9/7/16

Happy September! There is a distinct chill in the air as the dog days of summer wind down, and I am absolutely ok with that. I love the fall. What better way to enjoy a quiet afternoon than getting cozy on the couch with your favorite comics! Some cool stuff out this week, so here are a few highlights!

From Dark Horse this week, Rise of the Black Flame #1 is available, and begins an all new 5 issue mini series written by Mike Mignola and Chris Roberson with art by Christopher Mitten. This new series delves into the Cult of the Black Flame from the Hellboy universe and starts off with a bang, as young girls are going missing from the cities of Siam. The trail leads to the jungle hideout of a bloodthirsty cult wielding an ancient power!

From DC this week, Cyborg Rebirth #1 is available, written by John Semper Jr with art by Paul Pelletier. This issue delves into Cyborgs origin, known as Victor Stone, a star athlete and brilliant student with a bright future, however a tragic accident destroyed over half his body, and he was kept alive by merging flesh with advanced technology! Is Cyborg a man, or a machine that merely believes it is a man?

From Image this week we get 2 new series!

• First, Glitterbomb #1 is out written by Jim Zub with art by K. Michael Russel, and is a dramatic horror story about fame and failure. Farrah Durante is a middle-aged actress hunting for her next gig in an industry where youth trumps experience. Her frustrations become an emotional lure for something ready to exact revenge on the shallow celebrity-obsessed culture that’s lead her astray.
  
  
  
• Second, Zachary Kaplan writes Eclipse with art by Giovanni Timpano. Imagine if sunlight burned you alive. In the near future, a mysterious solar event has transformed the suns light into deadly immolating rays. The worlds few survivors now live in nocturnal cities. But a killer emerges who uses sunlight to burn his victims.
  
  

From Marvel this week Moon Knight #6 is out which starts a new story arc called “Incarnations”. Written by Jeff Lemire with art by Greg Samllwood, this new story arc sees Marc Spector with his body broken to escape the prison Khonshu built for his mind, and Stephen Grant awoke in NYC ready to produce Marvel’s next box-office smash!

From Aftershock, we get a new series called Alters this week. Written by Paul Jenkins with art by Leila Leiz, this new series features the world’s first transgender Superhero. As the world struggles to accept the emergence of a new kind of mutant species known as alterations, or “Alters” a young woman begins her transition from male to female only to find herself also transitioning into a powerful Alter.

From Boom! Studios this week we get a brand new original series from all star creator Frank Cho in Skybourne! Think James Bond with fantasy elements set in a facst paced action story! The legend of King Arthur is alive and well in modern day, and only one man, Skybourne, can stop the evil Merlin from destroying the world.
