New Comics Release for 12/20/17

‘Twas the week before Christmas, and all through the shop, the energy was buzzing for the titles about to drop. I had just finished putting the kids to sleep, after a bath and dinner as I prepped for the week. When lo and behold I looked over this weeks new releases and I audibly let out a couple of screeches! New Hellboy, new Metal, new 30 Days of Night! New Curse Words, new Legacy, and Marvel Two In One OH MY! This New Comic Book Day is going to be absolutely off the hook, so get out to your favorite shop and pick up some new books!

From Dark Horse this week, a very special Hellboy One-shot hit the racks in the form of Hellboy Krampusnacht #1 written by Mike Mignola with cover AND ART by Adam Hughes! It’s pretty self-explanatory. Big Red gets up close and personal with the satanic spin on Santa!

From DC this week, METAL #4! Finally! Aquaman #31 takes the plunge this week featuring new series artist Ricardo Federici (Batman Murder Machine)! In "Take Back the Throne" part one! Arthur joins forces with his new ally Dolphin, his loyal frenemy Vulko, and the love of his life Mera, to rally the underworld of Atlantis and end the reign of the nefarious King Rath! But even as Rath doubles his efforts to destroy "the Aquaman," dangerous new enemies begin to emerge from unexpected places... some vying for the throne themselves!

Also this week Superman #37 and Super Sons #11 hit the rack and feature parts 1 and 2 of the “Super Sons of Tomorrow” story arc. The Batman of Tomorrow travels to the present to prevent a cataclysmic disaster before it happens, revealing that Superboy will soon be responsible for the death of millions. But Superman will do anything to protect his son... and the Batman of Tomorrow is unwavering in his resolve to take down the Boy of Steel. From IDW this week, 30 Day of Night returns! As the sun sets over an isolated Alaskan township-not to rise again for a month-a new evil emerges from the shadows to terrorize the town... From Image this week, the insane characters from Curse Words are getting into the holiday spirit with the Curse Words Holiday Special! 'Tis the season...but not just on Earth! The Hole World has holidays too, and in this special CURSE WORDS event, you'll see how Wizord, Margaret, and their pals celebrate the season. With looks into the cast's pasts and visits from dearly departed wizard-y friends (hey there, Cornwall...), this one's not to be missed.

From Marvel this week, Legacy happens to Generation X #85 and Ms Marvel #25. We also see the return of Marvel Two-In-One #1 featuring the Thing and Human Torch! THE FOUR ARE NO MORE, SO TWO MUST DO! Something is very wrong with THE HUMAN TORCH and only THE THING can help him! It's the Marvel Universe reunion you've all been waiting for (well, HALF of it, at least!). Plus: What monumental secret has DOOM been hiding since the end of SECRET WARS, and how will it completely change the lives of Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm?

Also returning this week is Tales of Suspense #100 (of 5). SPRINGING FROM THE PAGES OF SECRET EMPIRE! THE BLACK WIDOW is dead...but someone is killing her enemies. Lastly, from Valiant this week, The Worlds Worst Superhero Team returns in a new ongoing series! Quantum & Woody #1 hits racks this week! Sometimes...you embrace your destiny. And sometimes...you and your troublemaking adopted brother find yourselves trapped in a scientific lab explosion that grants you $@&%ing awesome superpowers. As a result of their accident, Eric and Woody Henderson - aka Quantum and Woody - must "klang" their wristbands together every 24 hours or both dissipate into nothingness.
